The scanner maintains its rated throughput at both 200 and 300 dpi in bitonal and colour modes, even with image processing features enabled, and supports unlimited daily scanning volumes. Its 750-sheet input tray reduces the need for frequent document loading, while controlled stacking helps keep scanned documents organised. Mixed batches can include different document sizes and conditions, from business cards to 11 × 17-inch documents, as well as fragile and thicker originals.

Dynamic Flow Technology optimises memory allocation and processing paths to support efficient scanning, image processing, and data extraction. Intelligent Document Protection helps identify potential feeding problems before documents are damaged, while multifeed monitoring, barcode reading, automatic image rotation, and skew detection support accurate capture and reduce manual correction.

The KODAK i5650 supports OCR, intelligent document recognition, document management, and large-scale digitisation workflows. Image addressing and optional imprinters provide additional document tracking capabilities, while the optional Controlled Dual Stacking Accessory supports automated separation of specific document types within complex production batches
