The scanner processes up to 45 cheques per minute in black and white or greyscale and includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder for batch scanning. With a suggested daily duty cycle of up to 3,000 scans, it is designed for regular processing of cheques, vouchers and coupons.
A key difference from the CR-L1 is its integrated UV scanning technology. Dedicated UV sensors capture ultraviolet security features at resolutions up to 300 dpi, helping financial institutions inspect cheques for signs of counterfeiting or tampering.
Canon’s paper handling technology supports documents of different sizes and thicknesses, while infrared double-feed detection and paper thickness adjustment help maintain reliable feeding. MOCR technology combines MICR and OCR for cheque recognition, and image processing functions help improve text readability and captured image quality.
The CR-L1 UV also includes a built-in imprinter for adding information to the back of cheques during scanning. Canon Scanning Utility, Ranger Driver API and the CR Software Development Kit provide options for integrating the scanner into existing cheque processing environments.
