The Canon imageFORMULA CR-120 is a compact cheque scanner designed for banks, financial institutions and other organisations that process large volumes of cheques and payment documents. Its space-efficient design makes it suitable for customer service desks and counters where available workspace is limited.

The CR-120 scans up to 120 cheques per minute and supports a daily duty cycle of up to 12,000 scans. Its 150-sheet automatic document feeder enables larger batches to be processed with less manual intervention, supporting demanding daily cheque capture workflows.

For accurate data capture, the scanner uses Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) to read cheque code lines. OCR technology reads information from the scanned image and cross-checks the captured characters to support reliable recognition. Duplex scanning captures both sides of each cheque, with output available in black and white, greyscale and colour at resolutions up to 300 dpi.

A built-in imprinter enables endorsement information to be printed on the back of cheques as they are scanned. It supports up to five lines of text as well as bitmap images without reducing the overall scanning speed.

Canon Scanning Utility, ISIS/TWAIN drivers and the Ranger Transport API support integration with existing cheque processing systems. The Canon CR Software Development Kit also enables organisations and application developers to create customised integrations for specific payment and document capture workflows.
